How do I become a journeyman plumber in Oklahoma?
Applicants for the journeyman examination must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and have either:
- three (3) years of experience in the plumbing trade while employed by a licensed Plumbing contractor, or
- equivalent verifiable three (3) years of experience in the plumbing trade while serving in the U.S. military, or
- a verifiable out-of-state plumbing license that must be:
- current, and
- in good standing
- The following may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement:
An associate degree or Career Tech diploma certifying completion of a plumbing educational program consisting of a minimum of 1000 classroom hours from a school, approved by the Committee, may be substituted for two (2) years of experience. A Career Tech diploma certifying completion of an educational program consisting of a minimum of 500 classroom hours from a school, approved by the Committee, may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
How do I become a plumbing contractor in Oklahoma?
- Applicants for a contractor license must meet the same requirements as a journeyman which are below:Applicants for the journeyman examination must be:
- eighteen (18) years of age or older and have either:
- three (3) years of experience in the plumbing trade while employed by a licensed plumbing contractor, or
- equivalent verifiable three (3) years of experience in the plumbing trade while serving in the U.S. military, or
- a verifiable out-of-state plumbing license that must be:
- current, and
- in good standing
- Applicants for a contractor license must meet the same requirements as a journeyman with an additional one (1) year of experience in the Plumbing trade.The following may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement:

How do I know if I passed the Oklahoma plumber exam?
Your score will be given to you immediately following completion of the examination. The following summary describes the score reporting process: On screen – your score will appear immediately on the computer screen. This will happen automatically at the end of the time allowed for the examination;
- If you pass, you will immediately receive a successful notification.
- If you do not pass, you will receive a diagnostic report indicating your strengths and weaknesses by examination type with the score report. –
On paper – an unofficial score report will be printed at the examination site. If you pass the license exam, the Oklahoma State Construction Industries Board will issue you a license.

No
How often do I have to renew by plumbing license in Oklahoma?
No license shall be issued for longer than one (1) year and all licenses shall expire on the last day in the birth month of the licensee.
Is continuing education required to renew my Oklahoma plumbing license?
Yes, you must complete 6-hours within the preceding 36 months of expiration.
